A parish plan is no good if it is all talk and no action. At every stage of the Vital Village process, people told us what they would like to see happen. Below are some of these ideas translated into actions. Some are already underway; others will take longer. Progress will be reviewed in six months time.

  • Establish new village shop & ensure continuation of satellite post office

  • Establish a Parish Web Site (already underway)

  • Devise a strategy for road surface improvements

  • Support the school in the Planning for Real project

  • Provide community seating in public spaces

  • Promote community services

  • Carry out feasibility study on community bus

  • Seek help of SODC in promoting the provision of small rural houses

  • Examine feasibility of Affordable Housing

  • Involve young people in parish projects

  • Seek official endorsement of Parish Design Statement

  • Review Conservation Area boundaries

  • Promote needs of villagers in a parish transport strategy

  • Explore possible improvements to local bus services

  • Arrange a “Get to Know You” party

  • Promote community diversity and continue the Vital Villages spirit

  • Improve notice-boards & put the parish on the map

  • Foster links between the village school and the community

  • Produce a Welcome Pack

  • Expand church role in the community

  • Investigate additional security to supplement Neighbourhood Watch

  • Promote the Housing Development section of the Parish Plan in order to manage development of sustainable community
