Jubilee Pavilion, Recreation Ground, Mackney Lane, Brightwell cum Sotwell

There has been a Pavilion in one form or another at the Recreation Ground owned by the Brightwell cum Sotwell (BCS) Parish Council since 1897. A hundred years later on Christmas Day 1997 the Cricket Pavilion was burnt down.

In 2003, the Queens Silver Jubilee Year the BCS Jubilee Pavilion was built on the footprint of the Scout Hut and the Burnt down Cricket Pavilion funded by grants from the Oxford County and Brightwell Parish Councils plus a mammoth fund raising effort by parishioners lead by the BCS community association.

The Jubilee Pavilion facilities available to hire are:

  • Hall 11 mtrs Long by 6 mtrs wide with and oak wood floor and direct access to the recreation ground
  • Male and Female Toilets plus a separate Mobility Toilet
  • Licenced for use by up to eighty (80) people
  • Centrally heated in the foyer and changing rooms with blower heaters in the hall
  • Licenced for music with ceiling sound insulation
  • Fire appliances and Security System and external security lights and CCTV cameras and video recording
  • Kitchen with Hob and Oven, Fridge with freezer compartment, Microwave and an instant Hot Water unit for making hot drinks
  • Plastic table and chairs for use inside and outside. External all-weather electricity connection and water supply
  • Reception Foyer 5 mtrs by 5.5 mtrs suitable for receptions and meetings centrally heated
  • Childrens Play area – climbing frame, Swings- See-Saw all with safety flooring and a large slide
  • Two sports changing rooms, fully tiled with hot showers on suite
  • Can be booked either am, pm or evening or all day (See hire rates)
  • Adult football pitch - league approved d size and goals
  • Referee Changing room and shower
  • Cricket Square (laid in 1966)
  • Junior size football pitch
  • Cricket Bowling Machine with remotely controlled self-feeder
  • Two bay cricket nets (New 20010)
  • Cricket Ground – 50 & 60 mtr Boundaries
  • Boundary Rope mounted on a mobile drum
  • Car Park – Tarmac Surface– for 20 cars – additional parking available by prior agreement on the recreation ground
