WAR MEMORABILIA WANTED

Wallingford Museum's volunteers are looking for material for a 2014 special exhibition: 'Siege and Strife: Wallingford and War’. This will look at the impact war has had on the town and its people throughout the centuries, from Viking and Norman invasions, through two Civil Wars and two World Wars to modern warfare and the role of RAF Benson.

If you have any specifically local items or photographs related to Wallingford and war that you might be willing to lend for display or have copied, they would love to hear from you on  01491 837298 or 651127. They are particularly looking for a uniform of the First or Second World War.

Separately arranged group visits to the Museum or history walks (or combined) are proving increasingly popular. They can be specially tailored to your group's requirements.....out of hours, introductory talk, etc. If your group / society/ school would like to book for 2014 then please phone Judy Dewey as soon as possible, on 01491 651127.

Whilst Wallingford Museum is closed for its winter break, the Museum bookshop, with its constantly changing stock of good second-hand books (all modestly priced), will remain open during January and February. The shop will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10.30am to 1.00pm. Do please continue to donate your second-hand books - and particularly those with an Agatha Christie connection. << Go Back
