Alistair Butt won the Village Golf Cup at the 17th Meeting of the Brightwell-cum-Sotwell Golf Society held on Friday June 21st at the Springs Golf Club.

17 villagers competed for The Individual Challenge Cup. Tony Windsor was second also with 38 points but losing out to Alistair on count-back. Anthony Sykes was third with 36 points and also won the longest drive for Men. Pamela McCracken won the longest drive for Women and Nearest the Pin was Geoff Cordey.

The evening was tinged by the absence of Gerard Varley who is currently in hospital. Golf Society members all wish him a speedy recovery.

Details of the next meeting in 2014 will be announced as soon as the date has been fixed. The Village Golf Society is open to everyone in the village, irrespective of experience or standard. Anyone wishing to find out more should contact Alistair Butt (email or Gary Kent (email
