A group of 20 people in the Brightwell-cum-Sotwell and Sires Hill area have joined together to beat the oil giants.

They have signed up to Oxfordshire Rural Community Council's Bulk Oil-Buying Scheme, whose members have saved around 50 compared with the market average price for 1,000 litres of heating oil (a staggering 120 against the highest prices).

For an annual membership fee of 24, you can have as many oil orders as you need over a year. To join in time for the next order, your membership application needs to be in by 20th March.
