Works by half a dozen local artists is on view – and for sale – at the Village Hall as part of Oxfordshire Artweeks.

Watercolour landscapes of ‘mystery and imagination’; abstracts – and original illustrations from a new cartoon book by the graphic novelist Scooter McKenzie will all be on show. Viewing will be from 25 to 27 May, 10.30 to 5.30, with late night opening until 9 pm on the Friday.

Craft potter Jeanne Jackson, a one-time Brightwell resident, will also be exhibiting in her new studio at Horspath from 19 to 27 May, from 12 to 6 pm, with a late opening till 8 pm on the Thursday. Go to look for site number 429. Our illustration shows a typical Jeanne dish – and she has recently branched out into more primitive style stoneware.
