The Environment Group is campaigning to get more energy saving Photo Voltaic panels in the villlage. The idea is to save on electricity bills and to get paid for the electricity you generate.

The ideal roof direction for a solar panel is one facing south. However, the group says the energy available decreases surprisingly slowly if this is not possible. If you donít have a suitable roof, PV panels could also be mounted on another structure such as a garden shed, or in the garden.

Planning constraints have been relaxed even if you are in the conservation area.  However if your property is listed then you will probably require planning permission.

The Environment Group has obtained cost estimates from several recommended suppliers, and possible discounts. More details are in the June/July ediiton of The Villager.
