The Deckchair Cinema's showing of Mama Mia raised 2,812 to go towards the Brightwell Cum Sotwell Playgrounds Fund. This has a target of 15,000 to expand and enhance the facilities at Kings Meadow and the Recreation Ground on Mackney Lane.

Phase 1 will add a new toddler play area in Kings Meadow and a zip line for the older children at a cost of 60,500. Additionally the existing play area will be resurfaced.

Phase 2 will add new play equipment to the Recreation Ground play area on Mackey Lane at a cost of approximately 40,000. This will also include the addition of adult gym equipment.

The committee has applied for two grants to fund the construction. The grant guidelines require that the community "match fund" a small percentage of the total amount in order to release the grant. A JustGiving page has been set up in order to raise the necessary funds to meet the match funding requirements. 15,000 target will cover funding for both Phase 1 and Phase 2.

One the full fundraising target is achieved, Phase 1 construction could begin in October 2017.
