WHERE SHOULD NEW HOUSES GO?

Brightwell cum Sotwell Parish Council is currently producing a Neighbourhood Plan. The purpose of the plan is to find suitable places for development and to set policies that control building in our community that would be valid until 2032.

SODC announced in July that they had not met their five year land supply targets. A packed  neighbourhood plan update meeting on Tuesday 4th October explained the impact this will have on our village. A further meeting is planned for November 2nd at 8 pm in the Village Hall. Meantime, if you have any comments, please email Lucy Dalby, the Parish Clerk. The final decision whether to adopt the Neighbourhood Plan will be made by parish referendum.

Jason Debney writes: 'Over the next few months, we will be deciding the very shape and character of our village. How big will Brightwell cum Sotwell be in 2032? How should the village grow and evolve? What should we conserve? Should we join up with Wallingford? Should Mackney and the main village merge together? What views and open space do we value? What size houses should we build and how many of these should be affordable?

'We have been asking you these questions for a long time. Now it is time to present to you what the Plan will actually say.'
