YOUR SHOP NEEDS YOU!

The Village Stores is appealing for more volunteers to help staff the shop after what Celia Collett, Chairman of the Management Committee, has described as a 'roller coaster' of change.

Nicola Williams is now the manager, with assistant supervisor Amanda McRae, and another supervisor yet to be appointed. Meanwhile anyone with a  few hours to spare is asked to contact the stores.

Celia Collett writes:

Our Community Shop has been on a roller coaster of change, especially made difficult with the shop robbery which took place recently.. Only a small amount of cash was taken from the shop till thanks to our new security systems that worked very effectively. The police response was quick and excellent.

May and June were dominated by carrying out all the alterations to the premises and training staff. We have lost two of our new staff but are very pleased that Nic has agreed to take the position of Manager, with Amanda joining the staff as Assistant manager. Together with the help of Donna, Annette, Carol and the Management Committee we are determined for it to be business as usual. We are actively seeking additional staff.

Due to the above, we have had to close the Post Office for the odd hour or two some days until we get further people trained. The Post Office is being very supportive through this difficult period. Our wonderful volunteers and customers continue to support and help us, we are extremely grateful to everyone.

The way everybody has rallied round goes to prove what a strong and good community we live in.
