Apple Day at the Red Lion on October 11, from 12 noon till 3 pm, once more features Paul Chilton's spectacular apple display of over 70 different heritage varieties. These are apples you might never have heard of and will certainly never see in supermarkets.

In the Popup Food Market you can taste over 10 varieties of apple, from Ashmead's Kernel, Lord Lambourne, Ingrid Marie or Spartan to Laxton's Superb, Ellison's Orange and Blenheim Orange.

Other autumn produce includes jams and chutneys made from village fruit and Brightwell Orchards Apple Juice. You can watch apple juice being made and taste the juice as it flows from the press. If you bring some of your own apples and a bottle, you can take some home.

Sunday lunches at the Red Lion start at 12.30 until 2.30 pm. Book early, as the pub garden will be packed  - 01491 837373.
