If you have yet to see the new building springing up by the north door of St Agatha’s, go down and have a look. Feast your eyes on the marvellous stonework. The roof is now on and work should be completed before the end of August.
Donations from The Gladiator Trust and The Beatrice Laing Trust have taken the Appeal Fund up to £180,000. This is £10,000 over our target and may enable additional work to be undertaken on external access areas to the church and the extension.
The Opening Party
Everyone is invited along to St Agatha’s on Saturday 22 September to celebrate completion of the extension. Details will be announced in due course but proceedings will start at midday with complimentary food and drinks. Formalities will be kept to a minimum. It will be a family occasion as the annual Teddy Bear Drop will be held in the afternoon, so bring the children along – with their Teddies.
This will be a great opportunity to take a close look at the extension and consider whether your organization, business, village group etc could make use of the meeting facilities available.
Summer Concert Another very successful concert was held in St Agatha’s on 16 June. This was the fourth concert held since fundraising for the extension was launched with a concert in June 2009. Congratulations to all involved. It is hoped that this concert, as well as other fundraising events such as the Safari Supper, will continue as they have proved most enjoyable.
I cannot finish without a personal tribute to Martin Lovering who will be so sadly missed by the village. Jen and Martin were involved in so many aspects of fundraising for the extension in addition to being very generous donors. Their contribution to all the activities that have taken place over the past three years has been considerable. Farewell my friend.
